Thirty-Six Points Around Stonehenge

December 13, 2020

Photographed in the Stonehenge World Heritage Site on a rainy day, the series depicts a group of soldiers touring the site and taking selfies with the iconic massive rocks in their background. I used my low-resolution scanner to scan the film, and then applied extreme zoom-in crops which resulted in blurry pixelated images.

Giving the impression of satellite or surveillance imagery, the photographed soldiers shooting themselves appear shaded by the timeless monoliths. Their grim Giacometti-like pixelated bodies seem vulnerable, while they neglect their destined role.
